Canada Algorithmic Impact Assessment
A questionnaire for assessing the impact of automated decisions under Canada's federal directive.
Published by Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat
How to use it
The assessment asks about the decisions a system supports, who is affected, what data is used, and what protections are in place. The resulting impact level informs the mitigations required under Canada's Directive on Automated Decision-Making for systems it covers.
Prepare the evidence before starting. Bring the decision owner, privacy and technical staff, and the team responsible for handling appeals. Document how people can challenge a decision and what evidence the team will preserve to investigate concerns.
