About Qwen

Alibaba Cloud put out the first Qwen models in 2023. There’s a lot to choose from now, but Qwen3-8B is a good place to start if you want to run one on your own computer. It can help with writing, translation, and code, and a 4-bit copy can fit on a desktop GPU.

The names give you a clue about where to look next. Qwen Coder is built for programming. Qwen VL can read screenshots and documents. Qwen’s embedding models help search for related text by meaning. If you’re eyeing a bigger release, check its memory requirements first.
